How It Works
Charter pricing comes down to a handful of real inputs: the aircraft category's hourly rate, how long your route takes to fly, and a short list of fees that apply to nearly every trip. This calculator runs the same math a broker would sketch out on a call — real great-circle distance, real cruise speeds, and FlyRoving's published rate ranges — so you get a grounded estimate before you ever pick up the phone.
Your selected category's hourly rate, multiplied by estimated flight time for the full trip.
Airport and FBO charges for each landing, which scale with aircraft size.
The statutory 7.5% U.S. air transportation tax, applied to domestic flights.
A contingency for flying an aircraft to your departure airport, if one isn't already nearby.
It's a good-faith estimate, not a firm quote. The tool calculates real great-circle distance and flight time for your route, then applies FlyRoving's published hourly rate range for the aircraft category you select, plus landing and handling fees, federal excise tax, and a repositioning contingency. Actual pricing depends on real-time aircraft availability, the aircraft's current position, specific airport fees, and the operator ultimately assigned to your trip.
Charter pricing varies by the specific aircraft, its current location, and operator, even within the same category. The low end of the range assumes an aircraft already positioned nearby with minimal fees; the high end adds a repositioning contingency and the top of the category's fee band, so the range reflects a realistic best-case-to-worst-case spread.
The estimate breaks down into aircraft charter cost (hourly rate times estimated flight time), landing and handling fees, U.S. federal excise tax (7.5%) on domestic flights, and an estimated repositioning contingency. It does not include international taxes, customs or handling charges, catering, or ground transportation.
The calculator measures the great-circle (shortest-path) distance between your departure and arrival airports, then divides by the selected aircraft category's typical cruise speed and adds a standard allowance for taxi, climb, and descent. Round trips double the flight time for both legs.
Each aircraft category has a realistic maximum range. If your route's distance exceeds what a category can fly nonstop, the calculator disables it rather than suggesting an aircraft that couldn't make the trip — for example, a turboprop can't be recommended for a transatlantic route.

Disclaimer: This calculator provides a good-faith estimate only, not a firm quote. Actual charter pricing depends on real-time aircraft availability, the aircraft's current position (repositioning cost), specific airport landing and handling fees, weather and routing, seasonal or peak-travel demand, and the operator ultimately assigned to your trip. Federal excise tax is estimated at the statutory 7.5% rate for domestic U.S. flights only; additional government segment fees, international taxes, and customs/handling charges may apply and are not included. Aircraft category rate ranges, cruise speeds, and specifications reflect FlyRoving's own fleet listings and may vary by specific tail number.
