Development & Background
The Embraer Phenom 100 entered the Very Light Jet market in the early 2000s with a goal to outperform the Cessna Citation Mustang and Eclipse 500 while offering a higher level of comfort and safety. Introduced in 2007, it was Embraer's first very light jet, developed as part of the company's broader Executive Jets Program under CEO Mauricio Botelho, who sought to diversify beyond airliner production.
Designed at Embraer's facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil, the Phenom 100 introduced several innovations uncommon in light jets: a primarily metal fuselage and wing with composite fairings designed for over 35,000 flight cycles, the largest cabin cross-section in its class with a flat floor and OvalLite cabin shape developed with BMW DesignworksUSA, and the easy-to-use Garmin Prodigy G1000 suite for intuitive single-pilot operation. Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617-FE engines were chosen for low fuel burn and high reliability.
In 2013, the Phenom 100E introduced upgraded Garmin G3000 avionics, multi-function spoilers for improved short-runway landing performance, and refined interior lighting and materials. The 100EV (2016) added more powerful PW617F1-E engines, boosting climb and cruise efficiency, raising cruise speed to 406 knots and range to 1,178 nm. Most recently, the 100EX (2023) brought flush-to-wall tables, a side-facing fifth seat, a belted lavatory, the first-in-class Runway Overrun Awareness & Alerting System (ROAAS), and upgraded Prodigy Touch avionics with 3D volumetric weather scanning — certified by ANAC, FAA, and EASA.

Cabin & Interior Experience
Step inside and the Phenom 100's cabin comfortably seats 4 to 6 passengers, with a flat-floor layout, a fully enclosed lavatory, and luxury finishes inspired by Embraer's larger Legacy and Praetor jets. The newest Phenom 100EX adds more sustainable materials, increased legroom, and ergonomic cabin controls.

Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW617FE engines producing 1,695 lbs of takeoff thrust, the Phenom 100 has a range of 1,160–1,178 nm depending on variant, a service ceiling of 41,000 ft, and a max cruise speed of 390–406 KTAS. Takeoff distance runs 3,190–3,400 ft and landing distance 2,430–2,700 ft, depending on the variant.
The 70-cubic-foot baggage compartment holds 2–3 medium suitcases and 1–2 golf bags. Like a commercial airliner, the Phenom 100 maintains a cabin altitude of 8,000 ft even at its 41,000 ft service ceiling. Pilots use Garmin touch-based avionics known for ease of use and strong situational awareness; the aircraft is single-pilot operated, with captains typically starting at 3,000 total flight hours.
