Development & Background
Derived from the Learjet 45/XR, the Learjet 40/XR was introduced by Bombardier Aerospace in 2002 with a fuselage 24.5 inches shorter than the 45 — while keeping the same wide, tall cabin, reducing weight and operating costs. After entering service in January 2004, business executives found it ideal for short- to mid-range regional missions seating up to 6 passengers.
Cruising near Mach 0.81, it operates efficiently on routes such as Chicago to New York, Dallas to Aspen, or Miami to Nassau. Bombardier introduced the upgraded 40XR in 2005, adding a more powerful Honeywell TFE731-20BR engine, better runway performance, and higher cruise speeds.

Cabin & Interior Experience
The Learjet 40/40XR provides 6 club-style passenger seats with a fully enclosed aft lavatory. LED lighting and a quiet cabin come standard, with Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment available on most chartered aircraft. A 65 cubic-foot external compartment holds several small suitcases, golf clubs, or ski gear.
