Development & Background
The Learjet 36A is a distinguished variant in the Learjet lineup, offering extended fuel capacity and range over sibling models like the Lear 35. With excellent speed, climb, and flexibility, it remains a favorite for light-jet charter customers seeking extra reach without upgrading to a larger category. The aircraft uses the same Century III wing found on the 35A, fitted with upgraded engines, structural weight allowances, and added fuel tanks for extra range.
Even at over 50 years old, the aircraft remains common in charter operations and corporate fleets for occasional long legs that would otherwise require stepping up to a midsize jet. Most variants have undergone refurbishment, avionics upgrades, and interior refreshes to stay competitive in the charter and medevac markets.

A modest 13-foot cabin length is paired with a standard light-jet width of 4.9 ft and height of 4.3 ft. With full fuel, the 36A comfortably seats 4 to 5 passengers. Its 40 cubic feet of internal baggage space holds 2–3 medium suitcases and 1–2 golf bags. Most charter variants feature refurbished interiors with modern upholstery, LED lighting, and possibly Wi-Fi.
