Development & Background
The Daher Kodiak 100 blends modern engineering with capabilities most aircraft can't match. Similar in spirit to the legendary de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, the Kodiak 100 is built for short, unpaved runways, humanitarian missions, and quick regional hops — ideal for island transfers, wilderness lodges, mountain airports, and regional business trips where flexibility and efficiency come first.
Quest Aircraft Company, founded in 2001 in Sandpoint, Idaho, created the Kodiak 100 to serve remote and underdeveloped regions and replace aging piston STOL aircraft like the Cessna 185 and 206, while matching their payload and short-field performance. The first prototype flew in 2004, with FAA Part 23 certification following in 2007.
In 2019, French aerospace manufacturer Daher — maker of the TBM series — acquired Quest Aircraft and folded the Kodiak into its lineup. The acquisition brought performance upgrades including a five-blade Hartzell propeller, the Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck, and further cabin noise reduction.

Cabin & Interior Experience
Inside, the Daher Kodiak 100 offers executive seating for 6 to 9 passengers in a comfortable club configuration, wrapped in leather with noise-reduction insulation that keeps the cabin remarkably quiet for a turbine single. A large cargo door makes loading oversized baggage, gear, or equipment simple — a rare convenience few aircraft in this class can match.
Up front, the Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck gives pilots smooth, precise control with modern situational awareness, whether landing on a paved runway or an unimproved backcountry strip.
Capabilities & Performance
The Kodiak 100 is engineered for short-field takeoff and landing on dirt, gravel, or even water with floats. It needs just 950 ft to get airborne, with a climb rate of 1,340 ft/min. Once at cruising altitude, it burns roughly 50 gallons per hour at a cruise speed of 183 KTAS.
That combination makes it ideal for short regional charters such as Fort Lauderdale to Nassau, Seattle to Vancouver Island, or Boise to Sun Valley — routes where remote access matters as much as comfort.
