Development & Background

A record-setting, Collier Trophy-winning flagship

The Gulfstream G650 has become one of the most sought-after aircraft in business aviation, favored by Fortune 100 executives and prominent business leaders as a primary means of private transportation.

The G650 was introduced in 2008 under the leadership of Gulfstream Aerospace Program President Mark Burns, with its first flight on November 25, 2009, and FAA certification in September 2012. Gulfstream engineers provided a newly sculpted wing with a 36-degree sweep and advanced airfoils. Compared to previous Gulfstream models, the fuselage was wider and taller than any before it, allowing for a stand-up cabin with multiple zones.

In 2014, Gulfstream released the 650ER (extended range) variant, with an increased fuel capacity of 4,000 lbs (667 gal) and improved Rolls-Royce BR725 A1-12 engines, extending range from 7,000 nm to 7,500 nm.

The G650's innovation in range, cruise speed, fuel efficiency, and cockpit technology drove over 600 deliveries since inception. In 2014, Gulfstream earned the Robert J. Collier Trophy for technological advancement and set more than 120 world speed records with the G650/G650ER.

"On a recent flight from Houston to Dubai aboard the G650, the aircraft climbed cleanly above the weather, and the cabin altitude was so low that even after 14 hours, jet lag was noticeably minimized. Our team held video calls in perfect clarity, and the privacy and comfort made the trip seamless."

"As a pilot, the G650's performance is something to respect. Even from hotter airports or during high-temperature summer afternoons, it still gives a margin. The takeoff roll, the thrust, the climb — even near max weight — stays strong. We've flown into challenging airports and the G650 has always delivered."

Cabin & Interior Experience

Four zones, a private stateroom, and 3,000 ft cabin altitude

The Gulfstream G650's cabin can be configured to carry between 11 and 18 passengers, offering flexibility to meet client needs. It's typically arranged into four distinct living zones, including a private stateroom, conference area, lounge, and galley. The aircraft features advanced lighting systems, high-speed internet connectivity, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system, along with a low cabin altitude and a sophisticated air purification system to ensure comfort on long flights.

Capabilities & Performance

Mach 0.925 — 710 miles per hour

The Gulfstream G650 is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725 A1-12 turbofan engines producing 16,900 lbs of thrust. These engines allow the aircraft to reach a max speed of Mach 0.925 — roughly 710 miles per hour. Like most corporate jets, the service ceiling is 51,000 ft, with the aircraft built for long-range nonstop cruises.
