Development & Background
The Bombardier Global 5500 was announced in 2018 as the successor to the Global 5000, with integrated Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines, refined aerodynamics, and Bombardier's new Nuage seating for a smoother, quieter, and more connected flying experience. The aircraft is manufactured at Bombardier's Toronto Downsview facility and completed in Montreal, following certification in 2020.
The Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 turbofan engines provide 15,125 lbs of thrust each — a 9% increase over the previous BR710 engines on earlier models. Engineers also redesigned the wings with Smooth Flex technology (which helps dampen turbulence for a smoother ride), along with leading-edge slats and trailing-edge Fowler flaps for better performance at higher and lower speeds. Together, these advancements extended range to 5,900 nautical miles, improved short-field takeoff performance, and raised max cruise speed to Mach 0.90.

On journeys longer than five hours, a cabin altitude of just 4,500 ft while flying at 41,000 ft keeps passengers feeling refreshed on arrival. The Global 5500 also offers 195 cubic feet of baggage capacity — enough for multiple large suitcases, skis, or golf bags.
Capabilities & Performance
The Global 5500 is equipped with two Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines producing 15,125 lbs of thrust, offering lower emissions and fuel burn. With a range of 5,900 nm nonstop, connecting major global cities can be done effortlessly. Pilots use the Bombardier Vision Flight Deck.
