Development & Background
Charles Edelstenne, CEO of Dassault Aviation at the time, saw a gap in 2001 for ultra-long-range travel where strong runway performance, technological innovation, and hot-and-high capability rarely converged in a single aircraft. The Falcon 7X first flew on May 5, 2005, and entered service on June 15, 2007, after certification by the FAA and EASA.
Dassault's engineers introduced fly-by-wire controls to the Falcon 7X — replacing cables and pulleys with electronic signals that interpret aircraft movement and relay commands to the control-surface actuators. Drawing on Dassault's history in military aircraft manufacturing, the 7X also inherited high-sweep wing design and cabin innovations such as a low cabin altitude and improved acoustics.

Cabin & Interior Experience
The Falcon 7X seats 12 to 16 passengers typically, with up to 19 possible at the cost of range. Once aboard, you'll notice three seating areas, each with a divan, a sofa, and a large galley. A bed can be installed for long journeys when rest is needed, and — unlike most small or midsize jets — the lavatory is fully enclosed. It amounts to an entire condo inside the aircraft, letting you rest, meet with colleagues, dine, or sleep comfortably.
Capabilities & Performance
The Falcon 7X is equipped with three Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307A turbofan engines, each producing 6,402 lbs of thrust. These engines give the aircraft a max cruise speed of Mach 0.90, with a service ceiling of 51,000 ft. Takeoff distance is 5,710 ft, with a landing distance of 2,070 ft. An impressive feature is the cabin altitude of just 3,950 ft at 41,000 ft cruise.
Onboard entertainment includes Ka-band Wi-Fi, satellite communications, and multiple entertainment options. The Falcon 7X also has fly-by-wire controls and wingtip-optimized aerodynamics that help reduce drag and fuel burn by up to 10–15%. With 140 cubic feet of total baggage volume, the aircraft easily accommodates 15 large bags — more than enough for extended stays.
