The Cessna Citation M2 is a modern light jet that blends comfort, efficiency, and speed, making it a popular option since its FAA certification in 2013. It quickly became a favorite in the US and Europe for regional charters, thanks to its low operating costs, reliability, and modern avionics.
Due to the steady popularity of the Cessna Citation CJ1/CJ2, Cessna decided it was time to create an updated model with improved performance, advanced technology, and enhanced passenger comfort. Cessna saw a growing market segment of light jets that are cost-effective yet capable of longer-range regional trips — combining single-pilot certification for private owners with advanced avionics for corporate flight departments and charter operators.

Cabin & Interior Experience
The Cessna Citation M2 comfortably seats 5 to 6 passengers in a club seating configuration. The flat-floor cabin measures 4.8 ft wide, 4.9 ft high, and 14 ft long — a meaningful step up from the CJ1 it replaces, with better interior lighting and modern finishes.
Given the cabin's compact size, the M2 is equipped with a belted lavatory seat rather than a fully enclosed lav. The rear luggage compartment holds roughly 45–46 cubic feet, enough for typical business luggage.
Capabilities & Performance
The Cessna Citation M2 is powered by two Williams FJ44-1AP-21 turbofan engines producing 1,965 lbs of thrust. Combined with its fuselage and wing aerodynamics, it delivers a range of roughly 1,200 nm, enabling nonstop missions such as Houston to Chicago at a max speed of 404 knots.
Pilots get access to a Garmin G3000 avionics suite with synthetic vision, autothrottle, stabilized approach assistance, datalink weather, and advanced situational awareness. The M2 is single-pilot operated, with charter operations typically requiring at least 3,000 total flight hours.
