Development & Background
The Challenger lineage began in the late 1970s with the Canadair Challenger 600, which pioneered the concept of a wide-body business jet. Its success prompted Bombardier (which acquired Canadair in 1986) to refine and expand the design through the Challenger 601 and 604, improving range, performance, and reliability.
By 2006, Bombardier's goal was to modernize this proven platform to meet contemporary demands for comfort, avionics, and efficiency. The result was the Challenger 605, which maintained the same GE CF34-3B engines and trusted airframe as the 604 but introduced a new cockpit, improved aerodynamics, and a completely redesigned interior.
The 605 combined time-tested reliability with new-generation technology — a move that preserved the Challenger's legacy while positioning it for a new era of private and corporate aviation.

Inside, the Challenger 605's wide-body cabin continues to be one of the most spacious in its category. Measuring 6.1 ft high, 8.2 ft wide, and 28.4 ft long, it accommodates up to 12 passengers in configurations that often include club seating, conference tables, and divan lounges.
Passengers enjoy a quiet, pressurized cabin that allows for effortless conversation and relaxation. The Cabin Electronics System lets passengers control lighting, temperature, and entertainment from individual touchscreens. A fully equipped galley, enclosed lavatory, and 115 cubic feet of luggage space round out the 605's comfort-focused design.

Its service ceiling of 41,000 feet allows smooth flight above most weather systems, while a balanced field length of around 5,840 ft gives it access to a wide range of airports worldwide.
