Development & Background
A midsize business jet widely used by executives who desire transcontinental range, cabin luxury, and reliability, the Bombardier Challenger 300 has been a success since its 2003 release. It's a reliable option whether for a last-minute coast-to-coast charter or a planned business trip.
The Challenger 300 was certified by the FAA and Transport Canada in 2003, with Bombardier looking to fill the gap between the Learjet series and its flagship long-range Challenger 604/605. Market research at the time projected jets in this class would sell in excess of 1,000 units, and Bombardier aimed to capture roughly a third of that market. The fundamentals were set from the start: seating for at least eight passengers, coast-to-coast capability, a cruise speed of at least Mach 0.8, and a fresh design rather than an evolution of the earlier Challenger 600/604 series.
The design started as a clean sheet — unique in Bombardier's lineup — with wings and aerodynamics optimized for transcontinental performance alongside strong runway/field performance, enabling use of runways under 5,000 ft while still delivering true coast-to-coast range. Two Honeywell AS907 turbofan engines, each rated around 6,800–8,000 lbs of thrust depending on configuration, were paired with FADEC to ease pilot workload and lower operating costs. With over 400 delivered and a dispatch reliability rate of 99.8%, the Challenger 300 proved a lasting success for Bombardier.

Cabin & Interior Experience
Bombardier designed the Challenger 300 knowing travelers would want a spacious, opulent cabin for coast-to-coast travel. The stand-up cabin offers 6 ft 1 in of headroom over a flat floor, with a fully enclosed aft lavatory and a forward galley for refreshments. Passengers are seated in a double-club configuration for 8 to 9 (or 10, using the lavatory seat), with high-speed Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment, and multiple power outlets throughout. A 106-cubic-foot baggage compartment, accessible near the aft lavatory, holds multiple suitcases, golf bags, and ski bags.

Bombardier chose Honeywell HTF7000 turbofan engines, each producing 6,826 lbs of thrust, for powerful takeoff performance and efficient long-range cruise. Fixed-leading-edge wings improve fuel efficiency, while composite winglets reduce lift-induced drag by over 10% — together enabling a transcontinental range of 3,100 nm, a max cruise speed of 459 KTAS, and a service ceiling of 45,000 ft.
The aircraft also has strong short-field capability: a takeoff distance of 4,800 ft and a landing distance of roughly half that, letting you fly passengers closer to their final destination. Pilots use the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite for enhanced situational awareness.
